2020 in review

Wow - already time to say goodbye to 2020, although it feels like this year was SO long in the middle, the holidays made the end fly by. Here are some of our highlights from this year (and lowlights - let’s be real!)  January - Tom turned 33! Everyone but Elliott got the stomach flu at the same time. It was awful. I ended up at the ER for fluids.. I was so miserable. Should have known that 2020 was going to be a crappy year the way it started ;) February - Elliott Samuel and Molly turn ONE! We had a small family party at my parents house with just the closest people to us. It was a great day... till Molly threw up all over my dad after the party and a few days later we found out she had Influenza B! Poor girl was so sick! We went to the mall of America for their birthday (prior to them getting sick - that’s probably how she got it!)  and each of them got a build  bear.  March - ahhhh the beginning of covid. Weird time as we weren’t really sure what was happenin...

22 months / Samuels surgery

22 months... and 10 days till Christmas! Can't hardly believe that it's coming up so fast. We are settled back at home after an eventful week last week with Samuel's kidney removal surgery. Thank goodness all is well and he seems to be recovering pretty well now.  Elliott-   He is starting speech therapy this afternoon, via zoom. I am looking forward to seeing how it can help him communicate with us. He is also enrolled in a program at Fraser, which is a big children's mental health clinic in MN, called "early beginnings" We meet with a therapist weekly on Monday afternoons (also via zoom) who helps guide me through play therapy to increase Elliott's social and play skills. There are a few things that he seems to need some additional help on and we have seen some progress. He is so different from his siblings- they love being the center of attention and are loud and proud, whereas Elliott prefers to be in the background. He does really well playing one on ...

21 months // When it rains it pours

Whew. It has been a tough few weeks at the Glenn household! Lots happening with each kiddo, all different and all come with their various challenges. Add on the political climate and Covid.. yikes. I’ll just go ahead and dive right in.  Elliott -  A few weeks ago we noticed that Elliott wasn’t saying as much as he had previously and noticed a few other odd behaviors. It was brought to my attention that he was showing some signs that he may need some additional developmental help. Finding that help, in the middle of a pandemic, when you aren’t sure where to turn or what he really needs, while also trying to manage the house and two other other children is a lot. It is super overwhelming and I’ve spent a lot of time researching and trying to find the best fit for him and our family. Most things I’ve found are virtual right now which is super disappointing because I just don’t see how that will work for us. So, I’ve been working with different people to see what our options...

19/20 months

I went to write the 20 month update but then realized I missed month 19.. so this will be the 19/20 month update ;) I haven’t missed a month yet! I started this blog when I was pregnant and look how far I’ve made it. I started it almost two years ago, on 11/9/2018 when I was in the hospital not sure if these three little babes were gonna make it. Time flies, and we are SO blessed that everything turned out the way it did.  I can not believe it’s already October! Pretty soon the holidays will be upon us. So excited for them this year - though we aren’t sure what they will look like with Covid.. we will try to keep things normal as possible and celebrate when we can with our family and friends. We started ECFE in person and are back at the YMCA now, so we’ve been able to get out more.. much needed for all!  Elliott -  Mr E, or Big E as he is called. My parents started that and now it just sticks. And he really is Big E! He’s still a good 2-3 lbs heavier than Samuel ev...

18 months

18 months, a year and a half!! The last 6 months have been crazy with everything going on in the country so it feels like their birthday was soo long ago! 18 months is so fun! It is so hard - I think I can truthfully say I feel this is the hardest stage so far - yes; even harder than the newborn stage. Buckling up for the next few years of triplet toddlers running around!!  Updated weights from their 18 month checkup last week:  Elliott 26.2 lbs, 33 1/4” Samuel 25.4 lbs, 32”  Molly 20.4 lbs, 33”  Elliott - I say all the time now he’s my most laid back “easy” child. People may not understand that as he is still very clingy to me and gets very upset in new situations. But the thing about Elliott is that he gets really worked up, but once he’s comfortable and can relax he will play SO well. At home he is constantly entertaining himself and plays soo well independently. He never really gets involved in the drama between Sam and Molls (more on that later!) a perfect examp...

Three toddlers

Three toddlers is no joke. It’s so much more difficult than it was a year ago, even with the little sleep we got! And Covid 19 adds a whole other layer to this whole stay at home mom thing with things not being open/ or having crazy rules. I tend to be pretty positive, I love my kids more than I could ever have imagined and I worked so hard to get them here that sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve to complain. I have it easier than others, so what right do I have???? I am lucky enough to even have three healthy kids, and to be able to be a part of every moment of my kids days - some moms will never have that chance. That being said... the last month has been really hard.  The triplets will be 18 months in a few days. They are all walking (yay Molly got it down this past month!!) and chattering away. I’ll do an update on them after their check 18 month check up so I can record their weights/heights. Can’t wait to find out!  Being a stay at home mom is so hard, especially righ...

17 months

We are coming in HOT in July! It is warm and humid, we are on track for a record of 90 Plus degree days. And here we are at 17 months! I shared some photos of the kids a year ago, at 5 months and I cannot believe how much they have changed! I don’t even really remember them looking the way they did! The last month was a busy one (when isn’t it though!) and we survived our first plane ride with the kids! Elliott - He is doing great with his walking and is running now! He’s fast!! He did so well on our vacation, I was so impressed. When we first got to the rental house in Florida after a day of traveling, he was very clingy and didn’t want me to put him down. After a few minutes he calmed down and started to slowly explore his environment and after that he was totally comfortable. He just needs some time to get warmed up to new things. He LOVED the water though which surprised me. I wasn’t sure how he’d do with the pool but it was a hit with all of them. He listens really well and is ...

16 months

2 more months and they’ll be a year and a half! Hard to believe. Summer is in full swing over here and we are loving time outside and on the deck. We spend a ton of time outside everyday! Some fun updates to share and an exciting vacation planned in just a few weeks! Elliott - Big E is walking so well!! He is toddling all over the place and has gotten much more confident and fast! He hardly ever crawls now and it’s so cute to see him walk all over! He’s still really into his pacifier - I was working on weaning him off but Covid and isolation have been really tough on him so I’ve been way less strict on it. He pretty much has it all the time.. just makes life easier for everyone right now. He is really struggling with stranger danger. Poor guy, he is so cautious and would much rather observe than be part of things. Once he warms up though he really enjoys himself! We are working on getting him out of his comfort zone, slowly. :-) Samuel- Mr. Sam is walking!!! He just took off one ...

15 months!

Woohoo, 15 months!! These three are absolutely becoming less baby and more toddler by the day. I think so far this is my favorite stage, and by far the most exhausting. They are busy busy busy and curious about everything! We are learning a lot everyday! There have been some LOOOOOONG tough days during this quarantine but are all healthy and surviving! This month has two big pieces of news- one is is that we are officially done with formula!! No more!! Such a relief and I am thrilled to be done with washing 3 bottles 5 times a day! ;) They do get one night time bottle before bed, just of whole milk. But that is much more manageable to wash. The other BIG news is that we have a walker!! Elliott took his first steps on April 6th- but only like two at a time. We've been working with him and he apparently just wanted to go on his own time because last night he just took off! So exciting!! Elliott - We had our 15 month appointment today so we got updated weights. Elliott has surpassed...

14 months

Image
The title of this one should just be "NO" because I feel that's all I say these days, ha! These three are into EVERYTHING! Everyday is an adventure with them, even these days stuck at home!! It has been over a month since the kids have left the house, besides a few drives here and there. They don't seem to mind, though. They are at a good age for being stuck at home because they really don't know what is going on, but I really do wish we could get out and socialize and see things! Elliott - The big news for Elliott this month is that on 4/6, his 14 month actual date, he took some steps! He stumbled a bit but took three steps towards us! It was so exciting! Of course now he has refused to do it again, ha! We are encouraging him but he has what we call "noodle legs" so he just flops down. Already stubborn, that one! ;) He is working hard on standing on his own, though, so I think he will get there really soon. Definitely wouldn't have predicted him...

Random Thoughts

This is going to be a really random dump of all my thoughts lately- because I’ve had a lot of time to think lately ;) I am SO in love with my babies. So. In. Love. I look at them and I feel like I could cry I love them so much. They are my entire world and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve been struggling for a while now and I’ve talked about it before but just struggling with not feeling like myself and not knowing who I am outside of a mom anymore, and that has been really difficult! But - during this quarantine I have been lucky enough to be home full time with my husband and my kids - and we’ve been able to just hang out and it has been really great. Tom has been able to be home a lot which has been nice, we’ve had a lot of family time- but he’s starting work again soon- yay! Of course there’s been days and moments (like tonight when I tried to bathe all three.. no. Just. NO.) but I am so grateful for this time to just unplug and BE. No appointments, no play dates, no feeli...
