15 months!
Woohoo, 15 months!! These three are absolutely becoming less baby and more toddler by the day. I think so far this is my favorite stage, and by far the most exhausting. They are busy busy busy and curious about everything! We are learning a lot everyday! There have been some LOOOOOONG tough days during this quarantine but are all healthy and surviving! This month has two big pieces of news- one is is that we are officially done with formula!! No more!! Such a relief and I am thrilled to be done with washing 3 bottles 5 times a day! ;) They do get one night time bottle before bed, just of whole milk. But that is much more manageable to wash. The other BIG news is that we have a walker!! Elliott took his first steps on April 6th- but only like two at a time. We've been working with him and he apparently just wanted to go on his own time because last night he just took off! So exciting!!
Elliott - We had our 15 month appointment today so we got updated weights. Elliott has surpassed Samuel in the weight department! He is now 23 lbs! He moved up to 50% percentile for his age. Go Big E! I had a feeling he weighed more, he is getting heavy and he LOVES to eat!! He is a big copier, so he will copy gestures and does the most as far as copying sounds. "ball" and "bubbles" are some new words for this month. He is still having some attachment issues with me, but I am not minding it as much.. they are so busy that when I do get a few minutes to snuggle I embrace it :) Anne cut his hair about two weeks ago, and we decided to just buzz it. SO CUTE! He instantly looked about 3 years old and I can't get over how much he looks like Tom as a child! He is all Glenn!!
Samuel - He is 21.7 lbs!! He has slowed down his growth a bit but is still moving up so no concerns. He is doing well with his eating, we've been doing Zoom calls with the school district to do his PT/OT and that has been super helpful. They gave some tips on how to help with his chewing/swallowing and it's seemed to help! He is the happiest little guy, always laughing and smiling. He also is starting to say more sounds, and he LOVES balls and having things in his hands while crawling. He isn't quite to walking yet, but has been going behind his walker more and more. I think I say this every month about Sam but it just amazes me how much he has come out of his shell.. he is so adventurous and surprises me all the time. We went outside in the backyard for the first time this year a few weeks ago, and I wasn't sure how they would react to the grass, big open space, etc. Molly and E were a little hesitant, but Sam just took off! He was in the neighbors yard within 2 minutes of being out. He was all over the grass and loved being outside.
Molly - Little one comes in at 19.3 lbs! She is close to 20! Still doesn't feel like it when I pick her up though, compared to the boys! She is a little firecracker, and just as stubborn as her dad ;) her favorite thing this month is emptying things. Drawers, bins, laundry baskets, the dishwasher, anything that has something in it she wants to empty. She will empty something out and then move on to the next thing. It is so funny and also a little maddening ;) She loves to brush her teeth! She also can go up and down the stairs now, and knows where her nose is. We tell her to touch her nose and she will. She loves music and dancing, and will squeal and clap when I tell Pandora to play music. She also is big into Yoga- ha! She is always standing upside down into downward dog position.
I have some exciting news - I have been selected to be interviewed/audition with a casting agency to tell my story about infertility. I am so excited to be able to bring some awareness and also share my story! The audition is coming up soon and I will update if I get selected. Pretty cool!
Today is Mothers Day, and I am writing this while the babes nap. I am so beyond blessed to be their mom! However, I really don't love Mothers Day. It is a day that has a lot of pressure, and also can be hurtful for so many. I sat and cried this morning remembering the years I spent hating this day, and feeling for the people who are hurting now. And not just for the people who want to be mothers but also people who have lost their own mothers. I am so blessed to have three healthy children, a great Mother In law and a great mom, but I know not everyone is as fortunate, and it just hurts my heart to think about that. But I do want to celebrate the love I have in my life. It's just a tough thing to navigate, I think.
The other big thing that is happening of course right now is still Covid 19. It is still unreal to me that everything is shut down and how much things have changed in a few short months. It has been almost 2 months since the kids have gone anywhere other than short car rides or to the grandparents houses. We didn't see anyone for about 7 weeks and just recently have decided that for my mental health and for the babies sake, we would open our world a bit and see my parents, my aunts and Tom's mom and dad. It has been SO good for us all! We are still being very safe and will probably not expand our groups for a while, but it has helped a ton to have some help. I always knew I had a great village but this just reinforces it. Last weekend my parents took the kids for the afternoon and it was the first time in over 2 months I had some time to myself, let alone time with just Tom and I. It was so nice- and honestly the first time since they were born that I didn't spend the time without them missing them, haha!! It was good for us all. I am still not sure what this summer will be like, or really when we will be able to resume "normal" but for now I am just glad we have our health, and am trying to enjoy all the extra time without any of the distractions that life can bring. I do miss our friends a lot though, and mama wants a pedicure as soon as the salons open back up!!
