2024 things
Jumping right in because I start every post the same way “wow, time has gone by so fast, I am gonna update this more!” Ha.
The triplets are FIVE! We celebrated big by heading to Disney world!! It was Tom’s first time along with the kids, so fun to experience all the firsts with them! We are so thankful my parents took us, definitely couldn’t do Disney with 3 5 year olds just Tom and I! Started the trip out with some good drama, wouldn’t be a family vacation without that! Ha! We had a super early flight and got to the airport with what we thought was plenty of time… 2 hours early. Unfortunately we missed our flight.. TSA was super backed up and it was a stressful start. But, we luckily got on the next flight and all was well.
Sam ending up falling in love with all things Disney and I wish I could have bottled up his excitement and joy. Truly, so special. Molly and Elliott on the other hand.. enjoyed some of it but it isn’t really their thing. Overall we had a great time! Of course, the night before we left Molly ended up super sick and the plane ride home wasn’t great. Left the airport and straight to urgent care where we found out she had strep. Disney is the most magical, germ filled place ;)
Tom started working again a few weeks ago and we are settling in to our new routine. This winter he didn’t do any side jobs (praise!!!) as he was recovering from his surgery and we knew we had a lot of appointments for Elliott. It was incredible having him around so much and we are all missing him! I have a love/hate relationship with Tom’s job. I love that he works so hard and he provides for us but it can be challenging to not know each day what it will look like. Overall, we are glad we got some special time together over the winter and are all happy get back into our spring/summer routine.
I am falling back in love with reading and I can’t get enough! I am staying up way too late and spending a lot of time reading in the car while waiting in the dreaded school pickup line. Ha! If you know, you know ;) I also have gotten back into a nice routine with the gym and am feeling so good! My kids told their teachers they want to be strong like mom and exercise. Proud moment for sure! Shockingly, I am going before the kids wake up to the 530 am classes and it has been so nice. Never thought I’d be a morning gym person, but here I am. After having triplets I am learning to never say never! Life takes us where we need to be.
The kids will start k in the fall, and we are all so excited. It feels like such an accomplishment for us all!! I thought I’d be more sad and missing their younger years, but so far I have nothing but excitement for the years ahead. They will attend Rosemount elementary school for K. There is a new school being built close to our house and the plans haven’t been officially made yet but we are thinking they will attend that school for first grade - the rest of elementary. It will be nice once they are in a school and will stay there. They’ve had a new school each year so consistency will be good.
They are all in the same class this year and that has gone ok. We are separating them for the fall. Their teacher this year is a literal angel on earth and truly loves all the kids like her own, we will miss her so much. I am glad all three got to experience having her. All three are still doing swimming lessons and are making good progress.
Elliott -
He is doing so well! He is doing better on his seizure meds and still hasn’t had any major episodes, thankful for that! He is in a daddy phase big time right now. He will put on Tom’s shoes, sunglasses and hat and walk around pretending to the be dad. He greets Tom at his work van each day after work and proudly carries in his lunch box. He is currently only doing physical therapy at Fraser! He’s made so much progress with early intervention. He is set up with his IEP to be successful in K. He’s had such a great team through the district and we are hoping to see him really thrive in kindergarten. He loves the color red, bowser, and swinging on their new swing set in the backyard.
Samuel -
He has informed us to call him Samuel, not Sam because that’s his name 😆 He is our social butterfly, he’s never met a stranger. Within minutes you will know his life story. He is a very passionate kid and wears his heart on his sleeve. He and I are the most alike so we butt heads most often, but I can always count on him for a laugh! He asks a lot of questions and is super curious. He had a lot of big feelings that can be tough to work through but we are doing our best. He also has had a great team through the district and his current teacher has helped him a ton this year work through some new fears and worries. His little brain just doesn’t stop. We are suspecting he may have ADHD and are going through the process of the testing for that. It’s a little easier this time navigating the system as we’ve done it with Elliott, but it is a lot! Having not only one, but possibly 2 kids neurodivergent (I HATE that term but that’s what it is) has been really challenging for me but I am doing my best and trying to meet them where they are at.
Molly -
Molly is a little diva… The sass on this tiny little body is unreal somtimes. She is tiny but mighty. She can’t stand that she is smaller than her brothers and what she lacks in size she makes up for in personality;) she has the wildest hair and it reminds me of my grandma Deeds 😆 she is so smart and loves her brothers hard. She loves small toys, her pups, and choosing her own clothes. She is in a phase right now where whatever I say is answered with a “no” sooo I am kinda hoping that ends soon but she’s also so funny. I really need to start jotting down the things she says because they are hard to even believe! She is also doing physical therapy and making good progress! She can count to 100 mostly and loves writing her name and spelling things out loud. She has a little group of girls in her class that hug each other goodbye every day and write little letters to each other in their backpacks. Fun to see her experience girlhood!
I am driving them to school and back this year. They took the bus initially but their school is pretty far from our house and it was a long bus ride. After meeting with the teacher we decided to try me driving them and it’s been much smoother sailing since. For now I plan to drive them for K, even though the school is much closer, we are all actually really liking it. That could change as I am unsure of what my plans will be once they start school. Tom and I keep saying let’s just get them to K and then we can figure out the next steps! For now, I am going to enjoy the summer with them and really soak in these last few months before school.
