18 months
18 months, a year and a half!! The last 6 months have been crazy with everything going on in the country so it feels like their birthday was soo long ago! 18 months is so fun! It is so hard - I think I can truthfully say I feel this is the hardest stage so far - yes; even harder than the newborn stage. Buckling up for the next few years of triplet toddlers running around!!
Updated weights from their 18 month checkup last week:
Elliott 26.2 lbs, 33 1/4”
Samuel 25.4 lbs, 32”
Molly 20.4 lbs, 33”
Elliott - I say all the time now he’s my most laid back “easy” child. People may not understand that as he is still very clingy to me and gets very upset in new situations. But the thing about Elliott is that he gets really worked up, but once he’s comfortable and can relax he will play SO well. At home he is constantly entertaining himself and plays soo well independently. He never really gets involved in the drama between Sam and Molls (more on that later!) a perfect example of Elliott’s personality is this - the other day he was playing in the cozy coupe car - he loves that thing! He was sitting nicely in the car and out of nowhere Molly came up, opened the door and sat ON TOP of Elliott, forcing him out. So, Elliott just got up and moved on to another toy without fuss. He laughs a lot and is super curious about how things work. He likes to play with puzzles and toys that he can “figure” out. He is also the best sleeper! Almost every night and every nap when he goes into his crib he lays down, puts the blanket over his head and is asleep in minutes. He does wake up about 30-45 minutes earlier than the other two but he doesn’t cry, just talks and lays nicely in his crib. He is still really into the pacifier but I’ve been working on him only having it during nap and bed. So far it hasn’t been as bad as I expected during the day!
Samuel - where do I start with Sam?! Ha! He is my BUSY guy. He is a climber and has the most adorable little grin. He tests us, and I am scared for what’s to come with him! He is a daredevil and SO much fun. He is the jokester; the leader of the pack. He loves to laugh and do naughty things for attention. We’ve started implementing time outs for him if he doesn’t listen three times in a row. So far they haven’t phased him but I’m hoping with some consistency he will realize what he’s doing will have consequences. He makes me laugh everyday but also drives me crazy. Saying no over and over is exhausting! He LOVES to climb. The couch, the chair, the stairs, tables, cabinets. Whatever he can climb on he will. He also loves to open cabinets and find the most random hilarious things to carry around. He is constantly carrying something. The other day he was carrying around a package of ramen noodles in one hand and a box of sugar packets in the other day. It never fails to amaze me what he finds to hold onto! He had a kidney ultrasound and a follow up virtually with the urologist this week and we received some good news! The right kidney that previously had grade 5 reflux has appeared to healed itself! It looks great and from the u/s they saw no signs of scarring. We have a few more tests coming up at the hosptial and will know for sure but for now all looks good. The left kidney, however was not able to be seen so that’ll be part of the procedures coming up. He will need to be IV sedates so I am not looking forward to that but I know he’ll be in great hands at Children’s.
Molly - the tiny little peanut! She is a spitfire and is very determined to get what she wants. Her and Sam battle it out every. Single. Day. She does not appreciate him being around her and will at times burst into hysterics if he gets too close. She loves to unpack things! She will pull all of the diapers out of the drawer, everything out of purses, backpacks, all the toys out of the toy box, etc. We are now working on her putting things back! She loves to hand people things. She will take diapers out, and then hand them to me over and over. She seems so proud of herself whenever she hands someone something. She loves to snuggle and is pretty much comfortable with anyone. She never cries going to someone new or when I leave her. She had her first sleepover at my Aunt Anne’s house last weekend and besides wanting to stay up late, she did great! She struggles with wanting to “party” at night so bed time can be a little frustrating with her. Once she is down though she rarely wakes up in night! She likes to sleep in, usually the last one up. I’d say between the three she has the most mix of personality of tom and I.
We are - along everyone else - anxious about what this fall will bring but I am looking forward to the cooler weather and being able to do more walks and time outside before the cold comes! We have a really nice routine down during the day with one nap and a good chunk of time in the morning and in the late afternoon after nap. We went to the zoo twice, not the same but still nice to get out and do something. We start hybrid ECFE in a few weeks so that will be interesting and hopefully fun! One week is in person the next week online. Other than that, business as usual in the Glenn household!!
