14 months
The title of this one should just be "NO" because I feel that's all I say these days, ha! These three are into EVERYTHING! Everyday is an adventure with them, even these days stuck at home!! It has been over a month since the kids have left the house, besides a few drives here and there. They don't seem to mind, though. They are at a good age for being stuck at home because they really don't know what is going on, but I really do wish we could get out and socialize and see things!
Elliott -
The big news for Elliott this month is that on 4/6, his 14 month actual date, he took some steps! He stumbled a bit but took three steps towards us! It was so exciting! Of course now he has refused to do it again, ha! We are encouraging him but he has what we call "noodle legs" so he just flops down. Already stubborn, that one! ;) He is working hard on standing on his own, though, so I think he will get there really soon. Definitely wouldn't have predicted him being the first to walk of the three. He has a top molar and has been teething badly. He is so drooly and has been waking up at night crying. He still loves his mama snuggles, but his attachment to me seems to be a bit better now. I can leave the room without him crying most days. I wonder what he will be like once we can all go out and he won't be with me 24/7 but I try not to worry about that too much since we really don't even know when that will be. He is really aggressive with his gestures and him clapping is the cutest thing. He knows that when we say good job, he should clap so he is really supportive of his brothers and sisters with the clapping. He also loves to wave and seems so proud of himself after doing so. So adorable!Mr. Elliott has put on some weight, I don't know his exact weight but he has gotten a bit chunky! He eats the most by far and drinks the most milk, so I am not surprised. I would guess he weighs more than Samuel now for the first time in their lives! He's currently wearing 12-18 month clothes, leaning more towards 18 months..growing boy! We are working on communication skills with all three and so far Elliott has learned "all done" when he is done eating.
Samuel -
Samuel has become really attached to Tom! It's the sweetest thing, he really loves his dad. I try not to be super offended by it since Elliott and Molly both prefer me ;) Samuel has really turned a corner and is the biggest explorer. He has NO fear and we predict he will be the one to take the most risks. Which if you'd have asked me 6 months ago, I would have never said that. It is so amazing watching these little personalities emerge and see them change and develop. Anyways, Samuel is our climber and will climb anything. He can get up on the couch, and we actually had to move the furniture around in our living room due to him climbing up towards the back of the couch. It is a problem to get him to get down and listen to what he should or should not be climbing on. We are working hard on communication and helping him understand what is OK. It is extremely draining some days. He will flop to the floor in a tantrum if we take him off the couch and then sit and whine to get back up. The days can be long ;) We did get a big slide with a little standing deck that he can climb on and he gets up there but then can't get down so then he whines and cries till we help him down. Ahhh. I know eventually this will pass but I am hoping its sooner than later, ha! His eating has improved dramatically, praise the Lord!! I had a zoom call with the Occupational Therapist and she suggested when he eats, (cant remember if I updated about this last post but basically he will chew and chew his food but then when he goes to swallow it he spits it out) to give him sips of milk or water when hes chewing to get him to realize he needs to chew and then swallow. It has made a HUGE difference!! Ive also been giving him bigger bites, which I think has helped too. He's also learning to use his sippy cup to drink with meals. Once it gets thrown off the tray though, for any kid, it gets put on the table because mama refuses to play that game. It takes a lot of patience but I am really happy with the direction we are going with his eating. He has 5 teeth, the two bottom and three on top. He is also wearing 12-18 month clothes, boys are still in the same size for now! He is really into thumb sucking and I find him doing it more and more often. It is super sweet. He loves to hear "No no no" and will shake his head while continuing to do what we are telling him no for. Sigh. No walking for him yet but he's working on standing too!
Molly-
She is sick of these boys! She is ready for some time away, ha! She is in a super fun stage where if the boys come near her or touch something she is playing with, she will scream and cry, and crawl to me. She really doesn't like Elliott, haha. She does not like sharing but has no problem taking the boys toys, and when they take them back she will scream and cry. Her bottom molar is completely in! It is so strange to see her with a mouth full of teeth!! She has 9 now and her top molar is starting to pop through but isn't fully in yet. She's been a trooper through teething, she really hasn't seemed to be bothered by it much. She loves to say "MOM" and it is so cute.. except when she wakes up in the morning and stands in her crib yelling it over and over till I come get her! ;) She is always so excited to see me! Her hair is getting long!! It has to be pulled back either in a tiny little pony or pig tails if she will let me ;) or it is in her eyes, it's so long. She is really into walking behind things too, she has a little shopping cart and will walk behind it and gets extremely frustrated when she tries to turn it. She has to work pretty hard, and she grits her teeth in frustration, it is cute to watch.. until she starts whining and yelling. There is a lot of loud noises in this house! We got all three a toothbrush and Molly LOVES brushing teeth. Any excuse for her to put something in her mouth! She gets really excited and cries when it's time to be done.
We started our online ECFE class, parents of ones. It has been a nice way to connect with another mom, unfortunately since we can't meet in class some of the parents dropped out it so it is just me, the two teachers and another mom. But it's been helpful and they have an online portal they send different stories and songs I can play for us during the day. This week the topic was building routines, which I will say we have a great routine during the day down.. but I am working on having the kids more involved in doing some things themselves. So after meals now I have them walk up the stairs on their own, with me behind to make sure they don't fall. Luckily we have a pretty short staircase, but it sure takes a lot of my patience while they go up!
As far as schedules go, we are still on two naps a day. Tried going to one and I just don't think they are ready. I've read that all kids have different sleep needs and I think we are really lucky that our kids sleep great. Let's hope that continues!! They are up between 7-730, some rare days they'll sleep till 8. I typically just let them sleep till one wakes up and then wake them all up. Usually they are all up around the same time, but rarely Molly will sleep a little later. We do a morning bottle of just whole milk, still in a bottle. Play till 9, breakfast in highchairs at 9. Typically we do some fresh fruit if we have it, puffs, and eggs or cheerios, or yogurt. Today we had a special treat of pancakes! They eat the most for breakfast out of any other meal. They nap from 10-11, with milk after nap. I am working on now transitioning them to the milk out of sippy cups and not bottles. Then we go back to play time, if its nice out we will get outside and play on the deck or go for a walk! Lunch is around 12;30/1, usually leftovers from the night before, or lunch meat, a veggie of some sort (green beans and carrots are the big hits) cheese, and some puffs or a veggie pouch. Nap time is 2-4, and for the most part they nap well. Samuel is the little trouble maker and likes to party during nap. His crib is super close to Elliott's due to the set up of the room and he likes to try to play with E. We may have to think about moving one of them into a separate room but I am prolonging that as much as possible. 4:00 we are up- I usually have to wake them and depending how the day has gone I will let them sleep till 415/430, but usually it's 4. Snack time at 4, usually some crackers or applesauce, sometimes milk too. Dinner around 5ish, and then bottles at 6:45 and bed at 7! Bottles are just whole milk again, they are all officially OFF formula!! This schedule has worked really well for us and I plan on keeping it that way until it doesn't work any more! If its not broke why fix it, right?! Our days are simple, but they brighten my days more than I can even explain. I am trying to really enjoy this time because once life resumes again, I know there will be less lazy days and more go go go. Right now, I just get to spend 100% of my days with my kiddos and I am trying to be thankful for that. All the years I spent wishing for this....
Tom is officially back to work at Wagner Sod! We LOVED having him home (most of the time ;)) but it will be nice for us all to get back into our new normal and Tom to get back into the swing of things at work. We were lucky enough to have him around for a good chunk of the winter and stay in a great place financially, so I am thankful for that and his hard work to keep this family supported! That's all I have for this months update!! Thanks for reading!
