Spring 2023

Happy spring! Maybe! It’s currently snowing… 2 weeks ago it was 88 and my kids were in swimsuits… today it is  cold and raining.  Why do I even bother getting my hopes up every year! Anyways… :)

We are a few months into age FOUR! Four is… chaos.loud.hilarious.challenging.fun.exhausting.

All. The. Things.

Elliott -

Well, we got the official diagnosis of autism a few weeks ago. Def wasn’t shocked by it, and actually everything that was said in our evaluation was pretty much spot on. They agreed with our observations and also suggested some other opportunities for E to succeed. It has been a long road… We waited for almost 2.5 YEARS for this. But, we feel like now we are on a good path. I have a lot on my plate now just scheduling all of his “stuff” but overall I feel like we are in a pretty good spot at least help wise for him. Im working the county to get some grants to help us pay for some therapies that do not currently take insurance. Thankful for lots of support and resources, although it’s exhausting doing it all to get there! Good things come to those who wait and work hard though… at least im telling myself that ;)

His behavior has been challenging…. I think the fact that he’s a triplet has been so good for him and also very hard for him. Two things can be true.. something I am working on personally reminding myself. He has picked up so many great skills from Sam and Molly but also gets easily overwhelmed from them… sigh. He is very hard to calm down when he gets upset and we frequently don’t know exactly what upset him in the first place.

We have a couple of follow up appointments coming up this summer, the school thinks that he possibly had a seizure in early Feb so we are meeting with a neurologist and doing a work up in a few weeks. I am not sure I’m convinced it was a seizure but it will be good to at least check it out and get cleared. He also didn’t pass his eye exam at the ped so we are going to an eye dr in June. He is still doing speech/OT at Fraser weekly and getting those services at school also.

Samuel -

The biggest dude! He is officially TEN lbs bigger than Molly and about 4 bigger than E. He is our best eater by far :) he loves life hard and has the biggest little feelings. He is hilarious, exhausting, infuriating, curious and wonderful all wrapped up into a cute little blonde haired firecracker. Ha! He LOVES people and wants to be outside all the time. He has asked me so many times “is it summer yet” ahhh buddy we are all waiting. He is obsessed with monster trucks (monster jam brand only!) and will take one everywhere. He definitely struggles with not getting his way and having some big tantrums so we are working on rewards/sticker chart type of stuff. I think we are slowly turning a corner. He is also about 90 % fully potty trained!! 2/3 complete! I would rather do just about anything than potty train. It is not easy.. woof. But just this past week we’ve had a huge push of success and I think we are good. I don’t even wanna write that haha as I’m afraid I’ll have to eat my words. Fingers crossed! He had a kidney check up recently and all looks great! I am always so nervous at those appointments but thankful all is well still.

Molly

In a surprising turn of events molly is now my little shadow. I love it most of the time, ha! She follows me and loves to do whatever I am doing. I notice her doing a lot of things I do and it cracks me up! She is so full of imagination and it’s so cool to see what she comes up. Her and her pups.. Big Marshall, puppet Marshall, mini Marshall, big Skye, little Skye and Chase do all sorts of fun things together. She dresses them up and they go on all sorts of adventures. She talks to herself ALL day long something my parents tell me I did! She loves school and has just started to get into doing her makeup.. she def isn’t afraid to go heavy on the eyeshadow.. ha!

Sam is still doing karate and is getting better! The instructor said he’s making some progress on focus and listening. Work in progress! All three are doing swimming lessons at the Y and it’s going really well. They are also doing gymnastics this summer and will be doing a summer sports sampler at the Y one evening a week. I also signed them up for their first summer camp!! Through the city of Rosemount it is a half day explorer camp for a week. Trying to keep us busy but not have too much on our plate!

What else is going on… well Sam got to go to Monster Jam for his birthday in Feb and fell in love. Tom, his dad and Jaykey Sams cousin all went and they had a blast. In fact, we all have tickets for the hot wheels glow in the dark monster jam show in November! Should be a good time. We also went to San Diego in Feb with my parents! We had a great time. The weather wasn’t great so that was a huge bummer but we made the best of it! The kids loved sea world! Thankful for some great memories made. Second flight for the kiddos was a success!

School is out at the end of the month! They do have a summer session that’ll be from end of June - end of July but they are wrapping up pre-K 3’s! In the fall they’ll be in pre-K 4 at and elementary school. The last year before K… crazy!!!! They will be in the same class in the fall due to crowding, which I am not thrilled about but I think it’ll be ok. They will also be going in the afternoon which will be a huge change!! I am actually looking forward to that. I think it will break up our days nicely. Right now they get home around 10:30 am and we have a lot of day left. Once the weather is nicer it’s awesome to be outside and have the whole day but the days get really long when it’s cold and rainy.

We are going to church at Eagle Brook and the kiddos really like it. It takes some convincing some times but they are always happy when we get there. They are definitely learning things. The other day - Molly - “mom I don’t want you to die” me - “well I’m not dead…” molly - “oh congratulations.” Ha! They all call Jesus “baby Jesus” and it’s just so funny to us.

I think that’s pretty much the latest around here. Hoping my next update will be some better weather!!
