Spring 2022
Spring 2022.. or basically just the season after winter haha since we’ve not really had a spring! We went from cold and gray to 90, sunny and humid quick. Yikes!
The kids are so big!! I just can’t even believe how fast time goes, I know we will be sending them off to kindergarten before we know it. Crazy! I can’t even remember what my last post was so I know I have a ton to catch up on. All three started school in Feb and are absolutely loving it. It is so good for everyone, including me. ;)
Elliott -
Elliott loves school! He cried on the first day when the bus came - which I was expecting but it hasn’t happened again. The first day was also a cluster because of course it was a blizzard… we didn’t know exactly when the bus was coming and they were all so excited so it was very overwhelming. But, he has adjusted SO well and I am so happy! He was definitely the one I was the most nervous about but I am so happy to say he’s doing well and I think he really likes it. We did decided to re-start him in speech, they all stopped in Dec and we were going to wait and see how school went if they needed it… and we thought he did. So we brought him back to Fraser and he is going once a week, in person. His therapist is great and the really nice thing is that since it’s on Friday afternoon we are the only ones there so Molly and Sam can come too and play in the therapy gym while E has speech. He started at the end of March and OMG his language has exploded!! He is talking so much, answering questions, telling me if he is hungry/sad, etc. it is so great! In the fall, he will stay in the smaller class size and with some extra help but his teacher said she expects he will be in a mainstream class for the next session. So amazing! Elliott is super thoughtful and picks up on others energy/feelings really easily. He tends to stay back and observe until he’s comfortable but seems really happy just sitting back and watching. He is so sweet and will never say no to a hug or a kiss from mom. He is obsessed with Tom and it is so sweet. He calls him several times a day, asks about him and loves to wear his clothes, carry around pictures, or go outside and see daddy’s car.
Samuel -
As expects, Sam LOVES school and everyone loves him. He has a few new “best friends” and tells me all about his friends and people at school everyday. He had surgery in March to remove his tonsils/adnoids and get ear tubes in and I think the worst part for him was missing a week of school. The recovery was super simple, and I am so glad we did it. He is sleeping much better and isn’t snoring at all. So thankful! We were nervous because of his tough recovery from the kidney surgery but I guess when your first ever surgery is a major event, others don’t seem as bad. Anyways he’s doing well and is such a happy little guy. He loves people, is so social and loves the color yellow. He always wants to play with friends and be around others. He wears me out with his social skills! He is also mostly potty trained!! Pooping has been a struggle but we will get there. He loves to pee on the potty and the get a chocolate candy. I thought that might wear off but he still asks for one every time, ha! He makes me laugh and also drives me insane. He’s the child the most like me so he can push my buttons quick, but I am just in love with him and can’t wait to see what he becomes in life!
Molly -
Molly also loves school and is described by her teacher as mother hen, ha! She is such a mini mama and repeats whatever I say to the boys. She’s the first to tell me if someone did something naughty but also isn’t afraid to instigate! She holds her own with the boys pretty well! She takes care of Elliott at school and watches out for him. This fall she and Sam will go into a mainstream classroom and we are curious how she will do without E to boss around. I think it’ll be good for both of them. I love her little heart and how much she cares for the boys. She loves paw patrol Skye, her dolls and Minnie Mouse. She is a pretty social but she definitely also needs her quiet time alone. She plays so well independently, she loves little figurines or dolls and can play for hours doing pretend things with them. She loves my mom and dad so much! She will call my mom and take her on a “Gigi walk” on FaceTime where she will walk her around and show her different things. She is working on potty training, she was doing really well until she got a UTI and the pain really set her back. She isn’t super interested so I’m kind of backing off unless she asks me. I know it’ll happen eventually but I am ready to be done with diapers for sure! Molly is my little mini me and I love having a daughter… I am so thankful for her. She is such a great helper and when she works hard she really works! All three were “helping” my dad with yard work and Molly was a little work horse!! She doesn’t quit till the job is done!
School has just been so great and I am loving the break it gives me. They get on the bus around 9:45 and are home a little after noon. They go Mon-Thursday. So I have about 2 hours. I’ve been working on my fitness/health and I am feeling great. I work out for 45 minutes every day and it’s made a huge difference in my mood and energy levels. I, like everyone else hit a funk this winter/spring with the bad weather and the depressing news stories, but I am feeling much better now. Tom started a new job at a company he used to work for and it was such a great move for us. The hours are a lot but the pay is much better and he also gets some vacation time! Hooray! He is really liking it so far. We are in the thick of busy season so the kids don’t get to see him everyday which is hard but we are thankful he is such a hard worker!
We are ready to enjoy some warm weather and time with friends this summer! Not much is planned as of yet but we will do the usual, Dakota county fair, chicken bbq, fireworks, 4th of July parade. Oh we are going to Duluth in August to ride the Thomas train and stay for the weekend. The boys are SO excited and have been asking me when we are going, ha! Can’t wait!
