Young wild and three!!
Young, wild and three! That is the theme of our lives right now. The triplets are young, definitely wild, and THREE! We had a fun few days celebrating them!! Before I get into that, I just want to do an update on everyone individually!
Elliott - 33.6 lbs and 38” he is the biggest! Not surprised, he is a solid dude. His pediatrician said it’s hard to believe he was a triplet preemie! He is growing so well. We’ve officially cut the paci during the day! I think we’ve said this before but this time we are really sticking to it. ;) He still gets it for bed, Tom wants to cut it but I say no.. so we will see. He is the best sleeper and I just hate for something to mess that up! He doesn’t nap and between 630-7 at night he grabs my hand and leads me to his bed. So adorable! He is usually asleep within 5 minutes of him being in bed. It’s wonderful. He took a break with speech at Fraser but will start again at the end of March. He will receive speech at school, also. He is talking a lot more which is great but he isn’t using language very functionally. He is doing a lot of good non verbal communication so I mostly know what he’s asking for but not using language as much as we’d like. I am interested to see what the school says and what they suggest for him! He loves school!! They have an app they send updates/pictures of what they are working on and he looks so happy in the photos. The first day was tough he cried as he got on the bus but he hasn’t cried once since. The bus is a huge motivator for all!
Samuel - 31.4 lbs and 37”! He is the happiest most charming little guy. He loves life and his people, hard. I love that about him. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is constantly telling me he loves me or giving me a huge hug. He loves Tom and gets so excited when he gets home from work! We always know where Samuel is at emotion wise! He isn’t afraid to be upset or loud if he isn’t happy either. Unfortunately, he is having another surgery soon. He will be getting his tonsils/adnoids out along with tubes put in. He snores so loudly and sleeping has been really rough for him for a few months. I am really praying this helps him sleep better and be more comfortable at night. He also has been having recurring eye infections, and the dr. Thinks it is a blocked tear duct. Ugh, another surgery. He has been on countless rounds of eye drops and 2 rounds of antibiotics, as soon as he stops the medicine he immediately gets the infection back. It is so frustrating. We are waiting to see if the tubes could help drain? But it isn’t likely so once he’s recovered we will go back to the pediatrician to get a referral to the eye doctor/surgeon. He sure keeps us on our toes! ;) his kidney is doing great and there’s been zero issues with that, which is so great! We are so thankful!! He LOVES school. He is ready as soon as he wakes up and asks me a million times when the bus will be here. He runs out with his yellow backpack and says “hi driver!” So cute! He loves yellow.. everything yellow! It’s his favorite color and he always chooses yellow if he can. Such a perfect color for him!
Molly - 24.5 lbs 37” she is tall and thin! She is a mini me and yikes at time is is scary! She is such a little mama and loves to tell the boys what to do. She is so stubborn and strong willed there is almost no way to get her to do something she doesn’t want to do. If she doesn’t want it, it’s not happening. It is so frustrating sometimes but I try to remember that it will serve her will later in life. She isn’t afraid to talk back or say what she thinks, no matter the co sequence. We are working on what punishment will work for her. Ha. She HATES her big girl bed and will most nights fall sleep on the floor till we move her to the bed. She has a queen sized bed and just really doesn’t like it. She says “I’m too big” all the time whenever she doesn’t want to do what we ask. She will ask me “are you happy?” (She’s really into feelings!) and I will say yes and she will say “mollys happy too!” It’s so cute. She will also say that she is said whenever she cries. Ha. She knows a lot more than we think and it’s funny to hear her say things that we’ve said before. She knows almost all of her letters on flash cards, loves skye from paw patrol and is starting to get into dolls/dress up stuff which is fun. She likes alot of the things that the boys like too! She is probably the hardest right now just because if it’s not HER idea it’s not happening, so it takes some creativity on our part to get her to do things.
School is so great! They started on 2/22/22, which is a fun date! Of course it was a blizzard that day, leave it to Minnesota :) they take a bus that picks them up right at our front door and drops off there also. They are gone for about 2 hrs 15 minutes but once they turn 3.5 this fall they’ll be able to go longer. They go Mon-Thurs. I am loving the break! They come home tired and hungry. No one is really napping any more but I am starting to implement a more structured “quiet time” I am trying to do one hour of in their rooms no tv/tablets playing nicely and then after that they can have 1/2 hour on the tablet. I am so glad they are liking school and it has been a positive experience so far for us all.
Their birthday was Feb 6! We went to great wolf lodge and stayed overnight one night. We opted against a party this year and it was great. We wanted to take them somewhere to do something fun. It was a little overwhelming with three kids in the waterpark but overall it was fun. They liked the little toddler area and enjoyed the pool. It’s becoming more apparent the older they get that they are different personalities, though. The things that Elliott wants to do might be different than molly, than Sam. So it’s kind of a challenge at times to find that balance and make sure that everyone is getting their cup filled. I also tend to over analyze and want everything to be perfect for them that sometimes I have a hard time if things aren’t the best, or if “real life” happens. I put a lot of pressure on myself and it can be hard!
They started swimming lessons last week at the Y! Second lesson is tonight. They really liked it. Molly had a little problem listening to the teacher but hopefully she will come around. Elliott I think is going to be the one who loves water the most, he seems so comfortable. Sam is a little hesitant but once he gets in he warms up quick. Molly just wants it done her way so she had a few meltdowns last week!
Tom and I just had a long weekend away at a Grandview lodge, up by Brainerd. So nice to get away before things get crazy again around here. Spring is always so busy for Tom with work so it was nice to squeeze in a little R and R the two of us. The kids stayed with my parents and toms parents and had a great time. It’s so nice that we are able to leave and know that the kids will be so well loved and cared for. We appreciate our village!
