Day in the life
I always love reading these on other people’s blogs, and I think it will be so fun to look back later and remember these days! The days are long but the years are short - so true ;)
Triplets are 2.5 next week! So this is our daily routine at this time in their lives.
730/8 everyone is typically up. Molly likes to sleep in, so if I didn’t go in and get her she would sleep later, but I like to keep everyone on a similar schedule so I get her up once the boys are up. Samuel is our earliest riser, I usually hear him around 715. Elliott is up shortly after! We do diapers and then it’s breakfast. They love pancakes and waffles or “awfuls” as Molly says. We eat and then get dressed for the day!
During the week, we go to the gym 2-3 mornings a week, usually Monday, Tuesday, and Wed. I take a class at 930 so we are out the door by 9 am! Sometimes that is a small miracle ;) the kids love the gym and I recently stopped using the stroller to bring them in. I was terrified of the parking lot but I found a spot I can park that is off to the side and close to the door. It’s always a little hectic but we have it down now. They usually stop before they run across, so we are making progress! I drop them off and they do great, no issues there. Then I get an hour or more of freedom. The childcare just expanded their hours in the mornings so I usually longer after class and check emails, or just play on my phone for a few minutes.
I pick them up between 11-11:15, and we are off! We either head home for lunch or stop and pickup a Target or Sams club order. I try to have us home by noon each day so that we can wind down before nap! Lunch is usually around 12:30 and then nap around 1.
Elliott has occupational therapy online on Mondays at 3, so he gets up around 2:30. Also, Elliott has speech therapy on Wednesdays online at 1:30. He goes down after speech at 2, so he gets shorter naps on Monday and Wednesday.
They usually nap from 1-3 or sometimes 330. Then we usually play outside, do their pool and water table, or find something to do inside. This time of the day tends to drag on for me and is my least favorite: the time between nap and dinner. Usually once a week we go to my parents house for dinner and to play which is a nice change for all of us. Tom is working late so he typically isn’t home till 7ish. I’ll take that over the 9,10 PM he is usually working at the beginning of summer!
Dinner is around 530 and then we either do bath or back outside or TV time. Our TV schedule is so different each day. There are days they watch no TV and other days it’s on several times throughout the day. It just kind of depends on weather, schedules, my mood ;) ha! I try not to make it a huge deal and restrict it so that they aren’t constantly asking for it. If they see their iPads though, they will ask, so I try to keep those out of sight.
Bedtime is 730/8. I find if I can keep them up till 8 they go down a lot easier. I am afraid we are getting closer to being done with naps :( but I am gonna keep them as long as possible. I do think they still need them for a while but some nights it takes them long time to fall asleep.
*Thursdays Sam and Molly have speech therapy in person so we head to Woodbury at 9 am for that. I wait in the car while the other goes in, and Elliott either comes along or if my parents have no meetings I drop him there for the morning. Each speech appt is 45 minutes so it’s not too bad. I bring the iPads and some suckers and everyone is happy :) I’ve noticed a huge difference since they’ve gone in person. So much talking from everybody!
*Tuesday mornings we have our cleaner come every other week, and we also meet with the school district. Every other week the school comes to us (and our cleaner comes) so on the weeks we go there we go the gym first, then head to the school.
Fridays are our free day, with no appointments. We usually try to plan something with a neighbor or friends, or sometimes we just stay home, run errands, or I schedule time for me. It’s nice to have one day a week where nothing is really planned. We’ve been doing the puppet wagon in local parks the last few weeks and that’s been fun.
Whew, I am tired just typing all that ;) haha! It seems like a lot but it’s the perfect amount to keep us busy, and all of the early intervention stuff has helped so much! I am so thankful for the programs we are involved in.
