TWO!
They are two!! I’ve been meaning to write this for a while but with three two year olds time gets away from me. By the end of the most evenings I am happy to just sit and watch a show or play mindless games on my phone, ha! #truelife
Elliott -
Elliott is 28.8 lbs, and 35.” He is growing well! There’s been a lot going on with him and I haven’t shared too much but here goes. We are pretty sure Elliott has autism. He is in the process of doing speech therapy and a class for toddlers with communication / social delays. He’s been doing both since November. Once he completes that class in two weeks, he will start occupational therapy twice a week and he is now on a wait list for a full psychological evaluation to determine if he has autism, and to what degree. It’s been very hard for me to come to terms with this and I’ve been pretty quiet about it - but the more I’ve been involved with the clinic we are working with and the more research I’ve done, the more I feel confident about helping him and am realizing that the diagnosis doesn’t change for anything about him. The diagnosis is a tool we can use to get him extra help. It definitely feels like I’ve gone through a grieving process though, just thinking of how things could have been, and also feeling so much guilt and anxiety about him compared to the other two. Also trying to make sure that I am giving enough of myself to the other two. It’s been really difficult, I can’t lie. I try to keep my head up most of the time but there are times when it is just really discouraging. We’ve seen some great progress from the classes but he just isn’t progressing at the rate I thought he would be. Having to lower my expectations and really work with him to go at his pace and let him guide us has been challenging but I feel like we’ve learned so much! I’ve become a better mom for having him and I wouldn’t change a thing about him. He is our Big E :) <3
He is really into llama llama books. He loves them! He will read the same book over and over, loves to point and look at the pictures. It’s super funny to see him get so excited! He also really loves toys that are going to give him the same outcome, like his piggy bank that he puts coins into. He likes to have things scheduled and routine and doesn’t do well when things change. He tends to play with the same 4-5 things all day, and once he starts something he will continue doing that for a long time. He eats well, he loves food haha. He always comes right away when I call him for a meal! All three are no longer in high chairs and sit at the table with booster seats, so that’s been a big change, so far been pretty good! He sleeps really well, out of the three he is the best sleeper. He is usually asleep with 5 minutes of us laying him down.
Samuel -
Samuel is the same height as Elliott, 35” and is 26 lbs. He is hilarious, the absolute life of the party. He loves people and loves to show off ;) he is always finding ways to be funny and do silly things. It is so fun being around him, but OMG he is exhausting. He has very big feelings and has A LOT of big tantrums. He can usually turn it around pretty fast, but there’s been a lot of tears! He loves cars and balls. He is ALL boy. Rough and crazy but so sweet! He loves to hug people and will randomly come up to Tom or I and hug us, it is the cutest. He loves animals and is obsessed with my parents cat, Bo. He likes to kiss Bo so he has been scratched once or twice- he will learn! He laughs a lot and keeps us all laughing. He is obsessed with Baby Shark and asks for “shak” each morning. He started climbing out of his crib so he has a crib tent now, that’s been going really well, no issues with it. We weren’t ready for a toddler bed and the tent has been working really well. He’s doing great after his surgery and has had no issues or any complications, we are so thankful!
Molly -
Molly is 22 lbs and only 1/4” shorter than the boys. She is tall! She is in the 4th % for weight but she is gaining each appointment and so they aren’t worried about it. She is tiny but mighty! She is strong! She is such a helper, loves to help me with chores or putting things away. She usually puts all of the laundry in the basket or will help me put the books on the shelf. We are trying to teach her to stand up for herself next to the boys, they push her around and she gets to upset! Lots of tears from her too, ha! She loves to snuggle and has the sweetest little smile. She is in her own room now and that’s been going really well! She has an appointment tomorrow at TCO for her arm, after she broke her wrist in Nov. it didn’t fully heal, so earlier this month she had an X-ray done and it showed it was still broken with a new fracture. She seems to be fine for the most part but there are times she seems to be in a lot of pain, I want to see if maybe they’d just cast it so that it heals. More to come on that! Poor girl has been walking around with a broken wrist for 3 months, but she is so tough. She is also repeating EVERYTHING we say. She knows almost all of her letters and can count to ten!
We have a membership for the MN Children’s museum and a membership at Good Times Park in Eagan, they love it! It’s been fun to get out of the house and for them to see other kids. The pandemic has been rough! Luckily, none of us have gotten sick other than a few minor colds, but it seems like anytime we bring the kids anywhere they are sick for a few days after... they just pass the cold back and forth. So frustrating!! We were home most of the week last week so this weather and no one sick this week has been awesome! We’ve also gotten back to the Y too, and they went with me for the first time this morning. It went well, drop off was kind of a mess but that’s just life with triplets ;)
Tom and I are doing ok! Toms been busy with side jobs but has also been home quite a bit so that’s been helpful, especially with Elliotts therapies. Right now we have three zooms a week but it looks like that is going to increase. I’m a little nervous because Tom is going back to work full time the first week in April so he won’t be available as much, but I know we will figure it out. One day at a time!
We have some fun things coming up, and that helps with the cabin fever. We are heading to the beach in May! The beach we got married at, in OBX NC. I can’t wait! We hired a photographer and I’m so excited to get some updated pics of us on the beach. Tom and I are also going to Vegas this fall! First time for both of us, we are going to a concert (hopefully!) And spending a few days kid free to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We are also just looking forward to warmer weather and hopefully seeing more friends this summer. We are getting a fence put in and I can’t wait!! Last summer was so hard with them all running, this will make it so much easier for me being able to bring them all out! We plan to do as much as we can outside. Ending this with a few photos!
