Ten. Months.
Excuse me while I cry. Ten months of these beautiful humans. For some reason ten has hit me hard! They are so close to being one and I am just overwhelmed with pride and love for these tiny miracles I’m lucky enough to hang out with every single day! Once again it’s been a busy and fun month! So much change is happening with them and everyday they are learning something new... and everyday it gets harder and harder for me and Tom!! All three are officially on the move crawling and whoa- we are quickly realizing that mom and dad are outnumbered.. and that everything in our house is a hazard! Who knew all of the things they could get into and this is just the beginning.
Elliott -
Little mamas boy! He is definitely more attached to me than the other two, he babbles Mamamama alllll day long. He cries if I leave the room- but usually can be distracted with a toy or something, ha! He was army crawling for a while but just recently started to get his belly off the ground! He loooooves eating and wants everything we eat. He’s still dairy intolerant (not technically considered allergic) so after eating food with dairy products he’s pretty fussy and constipated for a few days, so we are trying to really limit his dairy. Word on the street from some elves is that Santa might be bringing him some dairy free treats ;) we are still hopeful he will grow out of the dairy issue as he gets bigger and his little tummy can tolerate more. Once he hits 12 months the pediatricians plan is to switch him to a formula with dairy and see how he handles it, so we will see! He looooves puffs, the little rice tethers and any and all purées. He even eats the canned meat (YUCK- don’t judge - we were told by the speech therapist to get some for Samuel to add different texture- no luck there but more on that later) the therapists think Elliott is really ready for “table food” so we are slowly introducing more of that. Elliott has his two bottom teeth, has had them for about 4 months now! No sign of the top ones coming in as of now. He is the most up and down with his moods and definitely lets us know how he’s feeling all of the time!
Samuel-
Samuel has made so much progress the last few months! My mom and I were just talking and he seems like a different kid! He is having a sleepover at my parents tonight! He is such a happy little guy and seems like he found himself all of a sudden. He’s doing amazing with the speech therapy and occupational therapy, they have commented multiple times how much progress he’s made each week. He is crawling like crazy and is so fast! He sits up and can get from sitting to crawling position now. He’s starting to put more things in his mouth so we think maybe he’s teething?! No teeth still for Mr. Sam! He is starting to pick up puffs and yogurt melts and put them in his mouth, that is the biggest change this month. I was setting them out on his high chair tray for a while and he wouldn’t touch them but all of a sudden he started grabbing for them and eating them himself. He still has a hard time with different textures- he hates anything “new” but is doing a pretty good job with the purées and oatmeal. I don’t think he’s ready for table food yet but we are surely making progress. He had two kidney appointments this fall and I’m happy to report all looks stable for now. He will be seen again at 18 months. We know the left kidney isn’t functioning well but he’s growing and developing so it may not be much of an issue- more to come as he grows.
Molly -
My little stubborn baby girl ;) she is almost 16 lbs and is noticeably lighter than her brothers, everyone comments on that when they hold her after holding them. She is extremely determined and is the definite leader of the pack. She is fearless, which terrifies me! She’s super curious and will stare at peoples mouths when they talk, as if she’s studying them. She hasn’t really babbled much, she has said mama a few times, so we are working with the speech therapist on that, but I think it will come with time. She is a great eater! She eats any and everything and is very interested in what we are eating. Everything, and I mean everything she sees goes into her mouth. I am much more paranoid about her choking on something than I am with the other two, as she grabs things and instantly goes into her mouth. She has four teeth! Her top two middle ones and her bottom two as well. She is daddy’s girl, she loves sitting with him and pulling on his beard, ha! She is not a cuddler, at all! She is constantly go to go.
Right now, they are all sleeping ( I love nap time!) and everyone has a bit of a cough/cold. It’s hard when they are sick because as soon as one starts, the other two get it....it’s really hard to keep them contained and away from each other so we pretty much just assume all three will get it. Samuel and Molly have both been to the dr in the last few days being checked for ear infections, neither has had one. So frustrating! Tis the season, they say.
The basement is done!! Officially :) we have our couch and everything! It is such a beautiful space and it makes our house feel so much bigger!! It will be so wonderful to have the babies first Christmas in our newly finished basement. Tom has worked sooo hard and it’s paid off! Speaking of work, he is officially laid off and I’m not going to lie it was a bit nerve wracking. For him being our only income source to be laid off - even though we knew it was coming - was a little scary. We have learned over the years to be good savers and that has helped a ton. He just happens to work in an industry where a majority of his money is made during one season. Luckily, he is a hustler and has been busy working some side jobs. He’s been doing some remodeling projects for some neighbors and my parents, and has a few other jobs bidding on as well. Also he is snow plowing but that hasn’t kept him too busy yet. I’ve enjoyed this time with him home and able to help out and hang out with me and the babies. He missed so much this summer and it’s been fun to do things as a family that we just don’t have time to do in the spring and summer months. All in all it’s been nice to slow down a bit. Although these babies are NOT slowing down at all. Everyone is moving and it’s becoming so much more work to care for them! I remember wanting them to start crawling and now they are and it’s chaos ;)
This is a super fun age but goodness it’s exhausting! I am pretty much ready for bed shortly after they are each night. Luckily they are still napping pretty well and sleeping through the night. They are still sharing a room and it’s going well still so we are just gonna keep them together until we feel they need to separate! It’s easier for us, the other bedroom upstairs is kind of turning into a play room/ clothes room. All about what’s easiest these days! Looking forward to Christmas and our new year with these three, just a few months and they will be one. Time flies but I am trying my best to really cherish this time with them. Happy Holidays from our family to yours.
