5 months

Tomorrow the babies will be 5 months! They have changed a lot this month and it’s been so fun to see! They are doing so well! I feel like everyday they are becoming more fun and learning and doing more. They keep me busy! We are on the go quite a bit, especially this summer so far.

Elliott - at his last weigh in he was 13.1 lbs. he is getting longer though so he almost looks like he’s lost some weight. He is wearing 6-9 month clothes but has some 3 month rompers that fit him still. He is a much happier baby then he was a few months ago. I think it’s a combination of his re-flux med finally working, and him growing out of the colic. He smiles all the time and his whole face lights up, it melts my heart every time. He is definitely a mamas boy and has learned if he wakes up early he gets extra snuggles in the morning, so he typically wakes up between 6/630 and comes and lays with me in bed. He has rolled over a few times and is babbling quite a bit! Still obsessed with his pacifier!! There is always one clipped to him. He loves being outside but has not really liked being in the little baby pools.

Samuel - at his last weigh in he was 14.9 lbs! He is our chunky man and has the sweetest smile. He is also  wearing 6-9 month clothes. I'm not going to be happy when the boys no longer wear the same size! I hope they stay the same for a while. Right now everything for them is pretty much interchangeable. Anyways- Samuel laughs  the most, and it just fills my heart with so much joy to hear his laughs. He likes to be sung to, my mom can make him laugh anytime she sings- we haven’t had the heart to tell her he’s laughing at what a bad singer she is ;) (love you mom!) he is able to start thinning out his formula, so we are introducing bottles back with no oatmeal added. He’s struggling a bit to drink the “thin” but I think he will get there soon. He is starting physical therapy next week for his neck- we’ve noticed he lays different and sometimes seems like he is straining his neck. We will see what they say.  No kidney updates for him, we are still just giving him the daily antibiotic, and thankful we’ve had no scares of any kidney infections.

Molly- she is 11.4 lbs! She still feels so much lighter than the boys. She is just a little peanut but is growing well. She has so many clothes! Ha. Girls are so fun to dress up. She “failed” her swallow study so she is still having some choking issues while trying to drink “thin” formula, so for now she is still having oatmeal added to her bottles. We go back in early August for another check. She’s eating well with the oatmeal so they aren’t too concerned with it. She can stand up really well with just us holding her hands, we think she will probably walk first. She also is SUPER drooly so we are thinking she may be starting to teeth. She  will chew on anything, including her brothers arms, ha. She likes to turn up on her side and has rolled over the most times. She also loves to be in the baby pool, she loves to kick and splash around.

We are all doing really well. I am so thankful for these three!! My days are busy but so fulfilling. This summer I have been watching my cousins daughter twice a week and it’s been so fun to have her! She is 9 and she loves the babies! It’s really helpful to have another set of hands! So, we have her twice a week and I try to get out for a walk every morning before it gets too warm. We usually have one day we run errands, and typically we have some sort of appointment or nurse visit each week. We also have had some play dates with friends and have done lots of garage sales! I try to have one day a week where we just chill at home, too!

The trio started eating some solids this month! Started with oatmeal and it’s been going pretty well. They had some carrots today and surprisingly they all really liked them! It is so fun to see them eat, I can’t believe they are already big enough for this next phase!

They are sleeping through the night still and it’s been a game changer. They are now going to bed around 7 and will sleep till about 7/7:30. Elliott does wake up earlier but I bring him into bed with me and he usually will fall back asleep for a little bit. We usually start our day around 7:30 and start feeding every 3 hours from then. The past two days Tom has been home with us and it’s been fun to have him! It is a nice 4 day weekend for him, much deserved!

The basement is really coming along now. Last weekend I took the babies to my parents for the whole weekend and Tom sanded and painted the main room. I was so thankful my parents let us come and crash for the weekend!  We have our cabinets in for the little bar, got our flooring this week and ordered our counter top and sink today. Tom and his dad put the rest of the doors in this afternoon so we are really moving along. We are sooo excited to have it so close to being finished! I can’t wait for another living space and a place to hang out with the babies. I am already imagining our Christmas tree down there!

Well, I think that’s all the updates I have for this month. I say this every month but I seriously can’t believe how big they are getting! It is so much fun but also makes me a little sad to think of how fast time is going. I try to remember to be in the moment as much as possible with them. I think I am going to do a post this week of a day in the life- mostly for me to look back at and remember how these days went. I already feel like I can’t even remember life when they first came home!
