One year ago

I’ve been thinking about this day for a while. It’s a day that that I will never forget. One year ago, we lost our third baby. We were so excited- waiting to hear a heartbeat for the first time and there was not one. It truly was one of the worst days of my life. I remember feeling so angry and sad I didn’t even know what to do. Tom and I just sat and stared at each other neither of us knew what to say. I wanted to give up. I was tired and just felt so drained.

Fast forward to a year later and I am sitting here looking at my three little babies. I can’t believe what a year can do. This year has been crazy. From finding out we were pregnant for the 4th time to then learning it was triplets to a crazy pregnancy filled with ups and downs and finally the arrival of these kiddos, it’s been a whirlwind. All I can say is that these three were worth it all. The heartache, the lonely nights, the countless appointments, the money. They were worth it.

Babies are almost 5 weeks old now and are growing big and strong!

Elliott -
Elliott is STRONG. He rolled over on his one month birthday and likes to move his neck and push against you while holding. He is usually pretty chill unless he’s hungry and then all bets are off! He is not a fan of being a triplet when it’s time to eat and he has to wait his turn. He has a very agrressive loud cry and his face gets really red when he gets worked up. He is 7 lbs now, our biggest kid! He loves to snuggle and sleeps a lot (I know all babies sleep a lot haha but he sleeps more than the other two). He will take a pacifier anytime. He had a visit to Children’s hospital this weekend- we had some concerns with his breathing patterns they seemed off but once we got there he checked out fine. Better safe than sorry, though.

Samuel-
Oh, Samuel. ;) Samuel is our mommas boy!! Since his time in the NICU he has not liked  to be messed with and that’s continued on since we’ve been home. He cries the most for sure, sometimes we don’t even know why but once he’s picked up by mom or dad he’s totally fine. He likes to cry especially at night in between feedings. Many nights he has just cried and cried for the entire time between feedings. We will rock him or hold him and the second we put him back in his crib he screams again. Last night we had a good night though!  He is our chamopion eater! He eats so fast and his feeding amount was just upped again. He has some appointments coming up for his kidney, so we are anxious to find out a little more.

Elliott hasn’t had the best luck with the formula they sent us home from the hospital on so we switched him to a different brand that has less lactose. So far it seems to be agreeing with him more! However that just makes everything a little more complicated trying to keep it all straight between the three and we still are fortifying for extra calories. The formula E is on is less calories so the calculation for fortifying his is different than the other two. Good times! :-) I am still pumping just about every feeding so about every 3-4 hours and my supply has been pretty good! I’m getting enough to feed 2 breast milk so we are just making pitchers of formula for Molly and Samuel and a pitcher of breastmilk for Elliott and then switching for the next time, formula for Elliott and breastmilk for Molly and Samuel.

Molly-
Molly is our patient child. She has no problem waiting to eat or be changed. Unfortunately she’s usually last since the two boys are crying first. She is awake more than the other two and loves to stretch out on the floor mat and do tummy time. She is a picky eater when she doesn’t want the bottle she will flat out refuse it! She makes the most hilarious facial expressions.  She’s enjoyed her first Target run with mom this week and her first girls night watching the bachelor finale at a neighbors.

They had their first photo shoot last week and we had a lot of fun! I am excited to get the pictures back!! They did great- slept almost the entire time. We are still on our three hour feeding schedule but are able to let them sleep 4 at night now, if they don’t wake up first. Last night they all slept and it was great! We are excited for the weather to get nicer to get them out of the house a bit but for now are just enjoying snuggles and lazy days. <3
