3 weeks old!

The babies are three weeks old! Hard to believe it. Tom has been busy plowing snow and then coming home to dad duty, giving me a break. It’s been pretty exhausting for us both but we’ve got this! :) We brought Molly and Samuel home on Saturday, 2/16. It was so hard to leave Elliott at the NICU but we knew he would be in great hands. I cried leaving him and also part of the tears was leaving the NICU and the nurses! They were amazing. I can’t say enough good things about them all! Having babies in the NICU is stressful and hard but they made everything so much easier for us.  We were also so lucky our babies didn’t have any major health concerns and were basically there to learn to feed and grow. The hospital went above and beyond to make sure all our needs were met and we are so grateful. Elliott had to stay a few extra days to make sure he was able to get all his calories in from his feedings and was gaining weight. On Monday, 2/18 we got the call that he was ready to join us at...

The babies are here!! I’m going to try to start from the beginning and share how these  three cuties entered the world. I had an appointment on Monday, 2/4 and at that appointment my blood pressure was a little high again. We knew I had pre-eclampsia at this point but was not sure how that would affect the schedule so we came prepared to potentially deliver that day. I was hoping it WOULD be that day! We met with the Dr and decided the blood pressure was not high enough to deliver yet but I was asked to come to another appointment the next day and the c-section was scheduled for Wednesday. Tuesday’s appointment was scheduled in the afternoon and that morning I received a call from the clinic informing me they would be admitting me after the appointment to watch my labs and blood pressures with the the plan still to deliver on Wednesday. I would be at the hospital, in case something changed and they needed to get the babies out quickly. It was a surreal feeling packing up and k...

I will be 35 freaking weeks tomorrow!! I’ve made it farther than the average triplet pregnancy and we can’t believe it! It’s amazing for the babies but terrible for me (that was an actual quote from my Dr, ha!)  I went back to the clinic last week for follow up after the hospital stay last week. On the way there I was so emotional!! I just wanted them to tell me that today was the day, and I was just feeling so done. Well, clearly that didn’t happen :) We went back and they checked my blood pressure- it was “high” but again not super high enough for delivery. It was 148/86, I believe. Which is high but nothing that was super concerning as blood pressure commonly increases towards the end of pregnancy. Ugh. So then they did the test for the babies, they all looked great again. Then they tested by urine for protein and it came back confirmed that I do have pre-eclampsia. It had increased from my time in the hospital so they ordered other tests to see if they could find any reason t...
